I really like Nicholas's drill logo, and the possibility of adding all sorts of random tools for variety.

Here's a different thought -- I like how we use #tcmaker in twitter as a hash tag so people can find Twin Cities Maker discussions. Why not make it a logo? This way we don't need some "official" logo -- people can add the hash tag with a stencil or iron ons or whatever.

just to keep things tidy - maybe graphic/logo prototypes should be posted in this thread.

thanks noise!

i like the simplicity of jwb's idea.
easy and simple. #tcmaker

variations and hacks to a simple logo set should be encouraged too.
maybe something nice and ubiquitous - like in helvetica or something

also: i think this deserves its own thread

That's funny, I was thinking that very thing. I was even thinking of taking it farther to @tcmaker, assuming we setup a shared tcmaker account on twitter.

Edit: The one nice thing going with @tcmaker is that you can then put the main web site url in the profile of @tcmaker.

i think we want to be inclusive on more diciplines, so something like a soldering iron or wrench may be a bit limited to one field.

what about using components/parts/tools to spell out #tcmaker?

T could be a cap symbol
C the head of an adjustable wrench
M a dovetail joint,
K a transistor symbol

another option would be to pull letters from individual tool logos that are readily identifiable.

T from dewalt
C from craftsman or coldheat
M from matco
E from fluke

what about using things we've built as letters?

possibly changing/updating or random?

i.e. a trebuchet might look like a letter K, or part of a circuit bent thing might look like a C, or spell out M on the lil LED game.

we'd have a cache or things that fit each letter, and every load it picks one for each. we could do them as iron on prints, and not have to worry about each one being the same.

gets the community involvement there, (yeah # is my --- project) but is still dynamic.

Dynamic?
Weren't we talking about t-shirts?
Does that subject need its own thread?

I don't care for the idea of having our logo tied to any one particular communications medium (i.e. twitter)

i concur on the tying to one medium concern.

if we do an iron on print that shares a methodology, we can have a dymanic logo. you just print out several versions.
