eeee. ugly aside i don't trust craigslist furniture. i know a few folks who've brought home bedbugs or fleas from them.

We can get the industrial walk in oven first and eradicate all pest from furniture on the way in then I know someone who recently bought a suitcase cooker for just that reason.

Bed bugs are easy to spot, as you can see where they hang out, and in general, when picking up the furniture if you ask the people if they have bed bugs and if they say yes you don't pick it up. I do have one friend who is immune to bed bugs but was still quite aware of them being on him at night.

I have been eaten by a few in a hotel room once and this is not something that I would do twice.

It' not a real issue as a general rule people do like to knowingly give away things with bed bugs, they trash it.
