This needs to be simple so every/anybody can update it when they bring stuff in. Before you start coding do you think the wiki could prove to be a solution for this?

I agree - simple for the user - I guess I was thinking webpage - the php code and backend mysql db could be made very simply and very simple for the user to use. The spreadsheet would work if it was a google doc sheet, shared to everyone. Very simple. If no one owns this it however, it will see little success long term. Was there ever an agreement on how to bring in items for donation? I have some useful computer electronics probably mixed in w/ junk. I'm happy to bring in my couple containers and have the contents "blessed" before donating to the location. But, is someone really doing this?
Random items: Cantannas & 802.11 cards Cables & Interfaces Routers & Devices Etc...

While we have a couple of shelves of similar stuff right now, the only real restriction I have heard (and agree with) is to not accept CRT (tube) displays unless they have a specific project lined up.
We (and I think I mean I, mostly) should take a night and sort what we have out, set items up to be tested for working, or parts and sort them out. I had started this a month ago, but like everything else, something came up, and I have not gotten back to it.
It is my plan to set up a rack for cables of all sorts, and maybe even use the new Telco Rack's we have to set up a basic lab for testing whatever.
But right now, parts are good, bring them down, label them parts, or working if you know. I will try to get this going again soon, and sort out the computer gear a bit.

Cool. Do we have a label gun? I'm assuming if so, it's in the office.

I do not think so, I think we are at the Duct Tape and marker stage still, or else print out a page and tape it to the stuff.

I'll do some digging around -- I have a cheap Dymo labeler somewhere. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.
