Harbor Freight tool reviews (or, is this $12 chainsaw cool?)

Postby no_self » Wed Mar 24, 2010 7:18 pm

This is a follow-up to a conversation we were having at the Hack Factory the other day about Harbor Freight ( http://www.harborfreight.com/ ) and the incredible quality/attention to detail we've come to expect from HF products. Specifically, someone was wondering if their MIG welders would kill you immediately or if it would take a few uses (answer, 3 uses).

Personally I love the place, and figure you can't really go wrong with some of their stuff (grinding wheels, bandsaw blades, mallets, etc.)- the less moving parts the better. Anyway, I found a website with user reviews of hundreds of their tools- check it out: http://www.toolcrib.com/blog/2008/08/06 ... e-abysmal/

Cheers!

I was one of the guys asking for this - thanks for posting it!

I especially liked this idea:

“if I use the tool enough to wear it out or break it, I use it enough to buy a better brand as a replacement.”
