So last Wednesday no fewer than four people talked about the Mame Cabinet, I know Wammie is intersted, and I think JRSPhoto is too. Anybody else?

Metis dropped a large CRT at the HF for it, and we may have the computer already, so by my take there are three projects within this one.

The Physical Cabinet, controls, power, lighting, etc.

The Working innards, the computer, interface, software, ROM's.

The Artwork. I think it should be a HF machine, but that is just my take on it. I would love the TC Maker Logo lite up and HACKFACTORY backlit on the top of the case, with other stuff on the side's.

I am going to keep asking for those who are up front interest through the Wed the 31st meeting, then the Next Wednesday we will see who is interested in what. (meet sometime during the open meeting)

Could we ask SwinkDaddy to mod up a version of the mural for the sides?

I will ask tonight or Thursday if he is not there tonight.

At the least we could take the concept and work it ourselves.

(he is kinda busy in April already, with 5 blender classes going on)

Tonight a group did some of the break down of the machine, so mostly just an empty shell as it sits.

Next we have to:
Get the CPU / Monitor / and controls working.
Finish gutting the shell and clean it up for primer / Base-Coat of paint
Work out the Artwork, Lighting, and other physical decorations
Plan the Control pad's, determine what Types are needed to get the most out of the games, and create a template to build multiple controls(for fast changeout)
Find a way to make Mame reward you in Beer instead of extra lives, or power ups...

OK, we've been looking at the cabinet and need to make a decision on how to mount the new monitor inside. The original CRT was face up with a reflective angle panel at the back. An alternate way to mount the monitor would be to position it with the display face toward the player but angled for optimal direct viewing. If mounted this way, we'd want to build a new bezel. It looks like the monitor would fit wholly inside this way without having to remove the housing.

Booka, were you suggesting to repaint the inside, outside, or both?

IMO, I think we should paint the whole thing over.

This would give us a good surface for our Artwork, and any case changes we want.

But I think we first need to rough out a drawing of the case as we want it with artwork, lighting, special effects, and hardware.

I think the monitor will be better suited mounted replacing the mirror, as I saw a couple of defects in the glass, but either way MAME can deal with that.

Lets plan on sitting down on the 21st and seeing what people think, and for those who cannot make it to the meeting, they can have time to make suggestions.

I will see what Swinkdaddy thinks tonight, and bring his suggestions (which I believe will include a screen print form for the HackFactory mural graphic.)
