TC Makers, when posting pictures on our blog, the following is suggested:

• Keep the horizontal display size no more than 300 pixels wide. The actual linked picture can be larger, but picture properties allow specification of display size.
• Center the picture.
• Try to accompany every blog post with one picture above the text and additional pictures following initial text.

On a related note, remember to categorize your entry as a "post" and not "uncategorized."

if you upload a picture I think it re-sizes it for you.

It is possible to post a pic that is too large, it truncates if it is too wide.

Yeah, pictures will get truncated or extend the whole window far too much. We might have some folks viewing on mobile devices who will experience problems. Consistency of presentation is another consideration.

Note that this is a suggestion. There are those who at the moment of posting can't afford a few more moments of time to do this. Understood. But presently since there are only a handful of people allowed to post on our blog (Governing Board and core members), and if some of us are willing to help out in this regard and "make it happen" - as our fellow makers are so fond of expressing - I don't see why we can't have an attractive, consistent, and presentable face for the public. But I agree, significant changes in content shouldn't be done by others without getting permission from the author first.

what is a core member, I thought the blog was open to all members.

It is, but they gotta wanna. There's been a certain reticence to do blogging for whatever reason.

I converted a couple good forum posts into blog posts, but that got old REALLY fast.

Paul, it became too tedius to deal with spam posts, so we're only letting folks post if they request the privilege.

Publishing something (i.e. blogging) generally takes more effort than throwing your 2 cents into an existing conversation on the forum. Also, some people might be averse to putting themselves into a 'spokesman' like role writing for the blog.

I have seen that people have been scared to post but I really don't understand it, and I tried to encourage people to use the blog to post projects and cool things that members were working on, I tried to lead that front by posting things on my own but I guess it didn't catch on, I think that it is a great place for it but perhaps I am wrong. I would like to see the blog be full of awesome posts so people will take a look at the site and go, they are actually doing awesome things at tcmaker, which is evident if you show up to meetings and such but there are a lot of people that I think want to know what they are getting into before showing up to a meeting.
