Well it is the "Maker Faire". I don't see a problem with that.

"Maker Faire" is trademarked by O'Reilly Media and technically that term shouldn't be used without their permission. That's my understanding from an earlier discussion on this.

I wasn't implying the were are or should calling it Maker Faire, I'm just saying why they probably made that typo.

I don't see minne-faire as any more objectionable than minne-fair from any copyright POV.

Ummmm, I just went to our Google calendar and didn't see it listed.

And who says we don't have their permission?

We effectively do, from both Sherry Huss and Dale Dougherty. I think that's as good as it's going to get.

I got over to Ax-Man in St. Paul today. A lot of people milling around! I left some more business cards at the counter. I also got about $20 worth of small stuff that I'm donating to the raffle for this event.

2-6pm Mini-Maker faire
7pm-11pm Party and Art Opening

Beer/Wine with “Suggested Donations for Beer and Wine” X dollars/drink, create a Face to put on Jar for money.
Provide Soda
Small appetizers – cheese trays- Costco???
DJ? Or setup music?
Bathrooms - We may need to rent a porta potty.
We will need both external and internal signage for bathrooms, donations, Entrance, etc.

We will need someone to create a roll/pciture show with pictures of other maker spaces… pictures of machines, make videos, makers projects, etc.

We will have a raffle of stuff that is available- Hoodies, Tshirts, Make zine. Two boxes of stuff- raffle every half-hour
Get raffle tickets, charge $2-5 for rafel tickets.
Create posters and put them up at Axman stores, Wedge, ArtStores, Coffee shops, CityPages, 2600 meeting, Etc.

Wayne Martinson: Local copy for write up.
Shoot something on to MPR- so they can announce our event, if possible.
Our budget is ~$400 dollars.

We will need donation boxes created and put them around the space.

We will work on the logistics at the next meeting, and start to put stuff together.

I'm also contacting some of my maker and artist friends; we had a few folks in the group volunteer for the maker portion but I think, as yet, nobody for the artist section.

The remaining tasks (signage, project/hackerspace slideshow, donation boxes) have not yet been taken.

Also, I'd like to encourage all of you to contact anyone you think may like to exhibit at this event.

I can take on the task of making some of the donation boxes, making a few out of steel, and somehow bolting them to something in the space.

Steel, huh? That's pretty cool...

Some day, if I ever get my woodworking chops up, I want to make one with an Art Deco feel to it. I <3 the Deco.
