well, one sheet of ply will generate (4) benches... so we're gonna want a few more wheels.

wheels ON benches make it a lot easier to move them about, these things aren't so heavy that 2 folks can't carry em, it's more a making it easy for one person to maneuver. if we were building in dedicated benches, then no, they don't need wheels.
the design i have has the lower bench recessed from teh front edge so it's not a shin buster, and think of these more a work tables then benches per se, items that carry multiple uses are good for a flexible shop.
until we have a solid vague notion of where big items are going, i'm more inclined to get us operational rather than build say a soldering station bench, which want's to be a little more specialized, where as a work table will do for that for a while, as well as work for a project bench.... etc.

I got all the Golden Valley Menards had of 3" rigid wheels. If anyone is near a Menards (other than GV) this weekend can you pick up 2 more. They are black plastic non swivel, rated 120 pound each. about 4 bucks each. -edit not applicable any more. got new wheels

I found a piece if 5/8" plywood in the garage. It's 8' long and 14" wide. Was left over from some cabinets I had built. Might make a nice lower shelf on two of the benches. Or something else. Has oak veneer on one side, maybe both.

Had to run up to northern tool. Found MUCH better wheels for the benches, and they had enough I could get all 8. These are rated 265 pounds each and were only a $1.50 more than the 110 pound menards. So I took the menards ones back. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/ ... 0246_40246

I've got a (nearly unused) circular saw that can live @ the Factory, I'll bring it along Wed.
I'll do some digging, see if I can find the wheel assemblies I have. They're two non-swivel wheels, ~4in diameter, mounted on an aluminum cross-member.

Is anyone going to be in the space before 4:30 today?
I have a meeting from 5-8 but I want to drop off my metal saw horses and other parts so folks can start working. For anyone planning leg heights, the wheels I have are 4 1/8" tall. They have grease zerks, and I greased them up, so they are ready to go.
EDIT- brought sander from home to sand the edges of the benches, but then took off before putting the box of sandpaper in the truck. Can someone bring a sheet or 2 of 100-200 sandpaper?
