Dr. Horrible / Serenity screening.

Postby darus67 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 7:05 pm

Any Joss Whedon fans in the house?

Thursday, August 13th

7:30 PM - Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog
9:00 PM - Announcements, prize drawings & auctions
9:30 PM - Serenity

Admission is $10 and includes both shows! Advance tickets are on sale now.

Additional screenings of Serenity will take place on the following Friday and Saturday nights, August 14th and 15th at 11:30pm. Admission for those screenings is $5.

Can't Stop The Serenity is the annual global browncoat event featuring Serenity on the big screen with all proceeds to benefit Equality Now, Joss Whedon's favorite charity. Equality Now is an international non profit organization working to end violence and descrimination against women and girls around the world. The now-annual event began in 2006 when over 40 locations around the globe raised over $60,000 for Equality Now! The 2007 global events topped that with gusto by raising over $100,000 for Equality Now! Minnesota's participation provided over $2,000 in 2006, and tripled that amount in 2007 by raising $6,160! We raised over $7,200 in 2008!

Darus, it should be mentioned as well that the event is at the Riverview theater. In my neighborhood! I haven't seen either of these movies, sounds like fun!

Have you seen the series, "Firefly"? If not, you MUST see the series before you see Serenity.

I ordered my tickets for this online, last night.

Hmmmm. So I need to get some DVDs, watch the series, then decide if I want to see the movie? Maybe... though I've got some other things going for video watching. Would be a fairly aggressive viewing schedule, with 14 episodes.

You can watch Firefly, online, for free, at hulu.com
You probably don't have to watch all 14 episodes to get a feel for it and have enough of
the story for the move to make sense.

Sweeet! I have the Hulu Desktop application. I'll start watching the shows then and order the movie tickets.
