Just a thought on this.
It'd be cool if we could include some kind of catapult/cannon type competition. along the lines of pumpkin chuckin. but more minnesota-ie. (green jello w/marshmallows anyone?)

Yeah, seconded. Though our interests are a bit techier, as opposed to straight-up artsy, there's enough crossover that we'd end up splitting the weekend crowd. I'm down with the idea, though.

EDIT... unless we could JOIN the Uptown Arts Fair, y'know, be a proper part of it. So the crowd is in easy walking distance of both events (since it'd be essentially ONE event). Like I said, there's enough crossover interest, easy. Hmmmmmm.

I would push for later than the Art Fair- it's early August.

I'm thinking I'd like to see it be a large enough affair that people may want to come from other places to attend. Perhaps not until next spring?

This would be so cool! I think "Maker Faire Twin Cities" would fit better though with the Twin Cities Maker group; that way we could consider any location in the Twin Cities and not just Minneapolis.

In words of Arnold J. Rimmer, "Brillsmeggingilliant!" I love the idea. Because it's gonna be awhile before I actually get down to an "official" Maker Faire.

There are several other art fairs the same weekend as Uptown. There's the Powderhorn Art Fair and the Loring Park Art Fair, too. It might be easier to get into one of those, if we wanted to be an official part of it. The Powderhorn Art Fair circles Powderhorn Lake and has plenty of green space, trees, and hills. And less asphalt. I haven't been to the Loring Park fair, but I'm guessing it might be crowded there. But that's just a guess.

Uptownmaker and/or Metis should have some news soon about Maker Faire development for the Twin Cities. Watch this space!
