next will be 7pm Wednesday at Common Roots Cafe in uptown. we figured a little later gets us clear of rush hour, and wed happened to work for all there again.
Anodyne was nice, but a PITA to get to if you're not in the neighborhood as the 46th st exit is closed from 35W and everyone, their aunt and their brothers poodle is trying to exit at 35/36th, so we figured we'd go with something with parking, accessible to several freeways and busses.
of note, someone needs to remember to bring a sign next time, fortunately we were all scruffy looking solo men looking around trying to figure out who the other freaks were.
-really- good conversations, we all agreed that just getting to know folks, and talking about things in person is going to be key to building enough of a community to get this off the ground if it's going to be a community and not a business run by one person. not that a business wouldn't be a LOT easier to get rolling, but it'll require a lot of capital, a community we can get rolling as an unincorporated club of sorts meeting in cafes and each others garages once we know each other better and it's a bit warmer, and go from there if there really is enough interest to get a lawyer and form up a corp or nfp to do things seriously.
we chatted a bit about things we're working on, related projects we've seen, what sorts of work/school we each do, types of projects we're interested in and actually there wasn't much geeking out at all, if any.
we chatted about starting some sort of group project, maybe a float for the aquatennial or restoring/building a car as a way to get folks involved and *doing* something together.
so who all is in for next week?
