I want to build a backyard play structure for my kids.
The commercially built ones are horrifically expensive.
The kits from the big box home stores are less so but still not trivial.
Then there are various pieces parts and plans and what-not.

I figure if I wanna call myself a maker I ought to be able to roll
my own and save a bunch of coin.

Anyone ever built one of these and have any advice to share?

sort of.... for a theatre production... accept splinters, a LOT.

over build like hell (cause actors WILL break it)

the set designer called for used phone poles... creosote is not an ideal thing to rub against....

from a deck building standpoint, and depending on how big you want it concrete pavers/deck bases and cedar may be your best bet.
