Rotary-dial bluetooth desk phone

From SparkFun; seen on Gizmag.
Price is $250, though; makes me wonder if maybe some of us could do something similar for, oh, let's say 1/10th that cost?

but bluetooth modules are a bit expensive no?

unless someone has a spare they want to donate.

And that's just some stuff available new online.

Bluetooth modules are pretty cheap if you rip 'em out of an old ear-thingy. (One of these days I'll get around to tearing mine apart, and stick it into the old rotary butt set I have...)

They're even cheaper if you "acquire" them from your employer...

My company makes a Bluetooth-using sensor that I'll be responsible for pretty soon. I don't know exactly how it works (I'll be going to Portland in April for training), but I'm betting more than one of those babies is going to find its way into the trash over the next couple of years, and you know what that means...

Of course it belongs in the trash!

I perform a valuable service- my company pays by the pound to recycle this stuff, so the more I cart off and use at home, the less they pay. Plus, when I take the non-recyclables out (plastic and stuff) it reduces their weight, too!

once we get a shop, i'm hoping to "acquire" furniture and storage for the group from my work in the same manner. one of my coworkers has already said that she'd notify me if anything useful needs to be disposed of.
