So in need of both a super simple hex/bin calc I wrote one. Currently only for Android, it will be moved over to iPhone and possibly BlackBerry after I get it in the store on Android. Has that old world desktop calc charm down to the seven seg display. All brave Android folks can snag a copy and let me know what you think. I figured I'd let the Maker folk out there at it before it hits the store. Grab the latest beat here: http://goo.gl/9yZmi

That would be a fun skin. Trying to think of what the buttons would be to make the theme complete. The tubes would, of course have to stick out of the top, maybe just a wood case. Course if I did that, I'd have to have an animation loop and have segments randomly flicker.

I am all about PSD help. If you wanted to help tweak the graphics for it I'm all about listing you with full graphics credit (resume builder) This is more an experiment in getting some fun stuff out there. I've got to much internal mobile stuff. The main concerns are having a scaleable BG image to handle all the rezs. I do plan to spend some quality time at some point and make some image tweeks to make the buttons look pressed.
I thought, of course about a for pay version. There are just so many calcs and that is not the point of this exercise. However, I am totally up for making the $1 or so app that lets you get custom skins or even a 'freemium' type model that you could buy more skins (that may be fun)

actually I do a lot of vector work. if you need detailed AI work that lets start there, easier to scale to multi devices. Want to chat offline?

Looks great, and I can see a regular use for it... I would have to upgrade to a smartphone first, but maybe I will keep Android on my old laptop..
Now for keys if you are using the tube display, the first thing that comes to mind is the old lever typewriter keys that the Steampunk Group loves so much, an simple circle, with a Ivory disk with the black inlay for the key.
But any way you do it, this is one of the things that I enjoy most about the Maker mentality, you think of something, and do it, sometime it works, sometimes you have to try again, but you never stop on the mundane "It would be nice for somebody to make" stage that too many folk stop at.

@paulsobczak I actually have an idea for a more fun app that handled ASCII. I wanted to do more of a circuit board theme, but then have some switches to flip from EBCDIC, ASCII, etc. Thought it would be fun to get some vintage dot matrix fonts too, so you could flip from vt440, etc. Anyone with a few old terms that wants to help with photos of old fonts off terms, let me know. (I've lost all my access to any at present )

OK iOS folks, I know you felt left out. iOS version is in beta. Cross my palm with a UUID and your model specs and you too could test this lovely app!
