so the few of us at common roots last night seemed to think that it IS a pretty bad/disturbing/fun idea to build a catapult modeled after the spoon bridge with cherry, we probably have most of what we need to do it kicking around amongst us, and could win 400$ and/or an epilogue laser cutter/engraver, so we're going to try to built it.

this saturday we'll get things started, and see how badly this will fail. next saturday we'll finish things up.

so Sat Feb 21st noon to ~5pm my garage. PM for directions.

after i CAD up some rough plans i'll post a materials list of things we need to scrounge.

should i bring along a bag of hand tools?

easy to bring:
safety glasses and hearing protection
hand deburring tool
cordless and or corded drill
drill and countersink bits
metal shears
extra tape measures

i dont know how many bodies are gonna be there - but working in parallel sounds a lot better than having a few dudes standing around just watching. Hence extra tools.

everything on that list sounds good to bring. i have eyes for 2-3, ears for me, a few pairs of work gloves, 1-4 tapes as they get lost and reappear, a cordless drill/drive with 1 battery, circ saw,
misc
drill bits, saw blades, and the general asstment of hand tools.

will be purchasing a propane heater tomorrow am, so if someoen has a tank to bring along that'll save me the confusion there.

other things to bring:

adhesives! suitable for reasonably quick layup of a veneer sorta thing.

and anything else you can think of that could be useful.

I could bring the table saw (which is portable) but likely not the shop-vac. I'll also bring a selection of miscellaneous usefuls that I have. Might even grab a little boombox & some mix CDs.
I'm guessing we should eat ahead of time, yes?
