Deadly Bubonic Plague Carrying Mosquito Prevention

Postby Orkraider » Wed Jul 13, 2011 3:58 pm

Hey all.

We have two big windows in the back of the new woodworking space that provide a lot of awesome airflow when they're open.

They also allow huge poisonous mosquitoes of ultimate doom to fly right through the half inch mesh.

We need some cheap ass screen to staple over the outside of these windows.

Each window is about 42 by 60 inches, and there are 2 windows.

If someone was willing to pick up a sufficiency of screen for this task, I will happily bumble around on a ladder with a staple gun and attach the screenage.

I"m already at the space with no wheels, so I have to ask someone else to do the actual materials acquisition.

I"ll be checking back here, if you will do this, please post to avoid 5 rolls of screen showing up.

Cheers!

Check in the back room (the future "Paint Room"). There might be a couple large screens that I brought in a while back if no one has used them.

Thanks, Idris, those screens are coming in handy, and will come in even handier in the future.

Adam (whose screen name escapes me) brought in a roll of screen that I thought was the right size for both windows; I had a brain fart, it was enough for 1, with some scrap left over.

I removed the plastic from one of the wood frames that had sealed up the windows over the winter, and put screen on it instead.

So, now, for the right window, we can take out the glass and friction fit the wood frame in the window, as long as we replace the glass when people leave, due to water.

I'm going to look at mounting the screen outside so it can just stay on all the time.

Another roll of screen would be handy, if anyone gets motivated; if we don't get some, I'm going to take a stab at making a frame for Idris's windows so they can be used, without destroying them.

Seriously? Go ahead, please destroy and/or use. They are not to be babied, they are to be manhandled.

I think since I posted this, Judeling went ahead and did the other window, and probably did it proper, as is his custom.

I didn't check this last night, as I was enjoying a very delightful beer in massive quantities. (well done sir!)
