Hey folks, I have found a source for used stepper motors in bulk at a ridiculously low price of 25 cents a pound...
Free Geek Twin Cities sells them for scrap, and if we meet the scrap price we can have all we want... the question is do we want?
This also goes for a number of other component parts, like fans, power supplies, and whatever can be extracted from Desktop CPU's, Inkjet/Laser Printers, and the like.
So I will just put this out there that we can get a bunch if you want to use them for your projects, teaching a class, or ???
(I think these are not ideal for the Zip Line Races, but I am unsure)
Let me know if you want some, and we can work out the pick up... Or talk with Brian at Freegeek Twin Cities dot org..

I'd take a couple pounds of steppers off their hands. Is there a minimum purchase.

Nope, they sell them to surplus dealers, so when I stop down Wednesday there, I will pick up what they have, and we can see what is good.

I did pull at least one that looked like that out last Saturday, but I will buy the bin out today (maybe 30 lbs) and we can sort them out.

So, I checked out the box of steppers when I was at the shop last night. Too bad almost all of them had their leads cut off, rendering them only useful as ballast.

The box was a the space already, I have asked that they leave the lead's on when I collect them, but again it does not always happen.
I will talk with them next week and leave a guideline sheet so they have some ability to be used.

I have 3 inkjet printers (2 older HP, one newer) and a flatbed scanner that can all be scavenged for linear motion components and steppers. I'm not bringing them in unless someone asks for them, however, since I'd rather not contribute to the clutter.
Want 'em?
