Hey all.

I was at the space today, and I watched Pete, Scott, and Kent working on some stuff with metal that involved a lot of sparks, noise, and other really interesting nouns.

It reminded me how little I know about that set of tools and skills, and how much I'd like to learn about it.

That got me to thinking that it sure would be handy to have a visual record of what someone experienced in these arts was doing.

As soon as I thought "visual record", I thought of two things: youtube videos and web based buildalongs.

And then I thought, "those would be assets. They should be monetized to our fiscal advantage!"

And that made me think of google adsense.

So I'm thinking, we shoot some video of some projects, or do some static build alongs with pictures posted in the forums, and then use google adsense to generate money.

I have a old 3CCD panasonic that I was going to try to get hooked up to one of the G4 Mac's via Firewire (the DV Tape drive was poor 5 years ago, I can imagine it is still sub par)

I will look at getting the mac set up tonight.

If that sucker manages to work, I'll commit to shooting what I do as I get ready to make and build the next iteration of the ball mill, and will do whatever editing and sound stuff is needed to end up with viewable content.

Is anyone out there already conversant with how to monetize content using google adsense and or youtube?

I did get the camera to work and capture on the mac, but I need to tweak it a bit..

Basically it captures video fine, but sound is something that either needs to be done as a voice over, or we need to get a better mic and the mixer board to feed it, the built in mic is perfect if you want mumbles, or want to talk into it from 5 inches out.
