Pat, would it be easier to get FAA clearance through tripoly mn?

Not sure, clearly there are some people in the group with experience in that area. Although recently getting FAA clearance for high altitude rockets has gotten much more complicated, but I believe that is more related to engine power (P and above) than altitude.

It may not be such a big deal for a balloon launch. There is a local group (UMN related?) that did a launch from the field last summer, so that may be a good contact as well.

If you don't volunteer to organize it, there's no guarantee somebody else will. Even if they say "Yeah! I'll get to work on that!" it wasn't their idea so they're just not as invested.

Yep, that's why I said I wasn't planning on leading anything, but just wanted to get the info out there in case this really excites anyone. I don't foresee having enough time to lead this, but if anyone does want to get it going I'd help.

Sadly that's what I spend most of my time doing. Anything less than 8-9 hours a night and I'm bound to catch a cold. I've been cursed with my mom's genes, my sisters got my dad's and they're all fine with 5 hours...
