Here's an idea for hood/side decal elements. It uses the Helvetica font which is close to, if not, the Jeep font. Big letters and logo would be visible from a distance.

That reminds me, the first attempt at the sign just says "HACK" and it's probably about the right size for a licence plate.

We should Probably focus on getting it running first though.

Steel procured! I wanted to do aluminum, but I need A LOT more practice before I'd trust my structural AL weld. But to keep the frame light, I went with 3/4 x 3/4 16 ga. Most of the spans are quite short, and I want some flex to the frame since it will not have any articulated suspension (maybe V2.0).

Since its getting hot out now, I am going to northern tool to look for spindle parts.

Ok, under all of that caked on grease and dirt on the transaxle, is a cast aluminum transmission. WIN!

Pulled the rusty v-belt pulley and am currently looking for a new one about 2 inches smaller. Either 5 or 6 inch should do.
Shaft is 5/8 slot keyed. Didnt have much luck at northern tool. Going to look at fleet farm tomorrow, if its a no go there, I am just going to get it online.
Stores dont actually seem to carry common farm parts anymore.

Still seeking a donor DC motor. 12 or 24 volt 1/2 - 2 hp. 2k-4k rpm
Looking for something like this: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... _200381906

I've done a little research, and it seems that 12 volt winch motors work great for this kind of thing. and sometimes you can get the speed control too by parting out an old one. hmmm.

Ax-man had 24 volt 1/9 hp x 10k rpm, but my guess is that is too hi rpm to take a clutched load.

If you'd like me to try 7 Corners first thing Monday morning I can, I live right nearby and they open very early. The do carry a good stock of pulleys, and as their motto says, "if we don't have it, you don't need it"

If you want me to check a picture of the pulley shaft setup would help.

Hope it's going well. Is this a rough idea of the motor you are looking for?

2 HP I think, and $200 without a controller. Be nice to find one these are spendy.
