I'd like to volunteer to be the first member of a new committee- the events committee.
Events committee members would be responsible for identifying and orchestrating a TCMaker presence at pertinent events, such as the State Fair, Make: day, ham fests, and whatever else we can think of. Before TCMaker is committed to participate in any event, the committee would be responsible for identifying costs and responsibilities and bringing them to the general membership for a vote.
Anyone else? I'm guessing we need to get moving pretty quickly for the State Fair.

i think we need to get a few more ducks in a row before we start committing to much...
but, yes we're going to need an outreach/marketing group.

I think it sounds like Programming. Also I think this really would be fantastic exposure for us, and I'd help out with it too; I just don't personally want to be lead on this bit. So. Mike? (Uptown, I mean)

Here and now, though, programming is a more general committee, concerned with what SORTS of things TCMaker will do rather than what exact things TCMaker is going to do in the near future. This, I think, would be the first of the committees centered around doing something, rather than around designing the structure of the organization.

i'm not certain that it would be separate... programming is what we *want* to do, not only in the space, but in general, and events i think is part of that.... (good catch theo) we've only got 3 bodies on that at present...
it'll also be other stuff like say a bbq or trebufoshay.
there's some ducks we need to get in a row before we really dig into outreach though. research on events woudl be great though so we can see where deadlines are coming up and prioritize what sorts of things we want to be at.

programming sub-committee? I would be interested in one that focuses on internal events that we would host. bbq, sumo bot tournament, open houses, etc.

possibly. cart before the horse or not?
imho we need to really focus on getting *US* goign right now, and then work on more outreach. we are still growing, but we'll grow a lot healthier and more sustainably i think if we're a lil more organized.

There are still events to be hosted even without a space. I like the idea of a bbq, hot dogs, brats, burgers at a public park, bring the spoonapult, if we get spoon v2 done. Other people can bring their projects. Then post fliers everywhere.
edit: The reason I'm even bringing this up is because I've found it helps a ton to plan events 2 months in advance. For instance, a bbq, if we started planning today, the bbq would be held sometime around June 13. Planning would need to be done in the next month, meaning everything is finalized by May 13th. Reserving a shelter at a park? A tentative menu with an approx price per person, unless it was byom, bring your own meat. Publicity should be started. If we need to buy food for people we have almost a month then for people to rsvp so we know how much to buy.

JTB-
My points exactly- our "programming" committee is, I think, right now more concerned with types than actual events.
And I think hosting events (and having a presence at events) is going to be important to recruiting enough people to get a space opened.
