TCMaker at MarsCon this weekend - help!

Postby Orkraider » Thu Mar 08, 2012 4:05 pm

I'm going to be manning a table for Twin Cities Maker at MarsCon this weekend.
I'll be set up in the Science room.
The first chunk of time I'll be talking to the public is Friday, from 4 to 7 pm, and I can handle that solo.
Saturday, however, there's a block of time from 10 am to 6 pm, and it would be really handy to have some more bodies in seats to help with community outreach.
Any takers?
I could really use the help.
Also, I'd very much like to bring the FoshayBuchet, but I don't have a vehicle big enough.
Anyone able to lend a hand with that?
Cheers, and thanks!

Just in case you don't see it on G+ first: I might have a couple of free hours Saturday afternoon. I'm giving blood at 11.30am, I'll try to swing through the science room beforehand.

Most excellent, thanks man.

Did see it there.

It's gonna be fun.

Remember, don't give more than 16 pints.

Just got back yesterday from Marscon 2012, working a table in the science room, representing TCMaker ( https://plus.google.com/u/0/s/tcmaker )
I want to shout out a big thanks to all the folks who helped. Pete, Jeff, Michael, Chris, Scott and Bob, all of you really made a difference, and I can't tell you how much I appreciated it.
The event was a huge success, and we got to talk to a lot of people who were interested in what we were about.
We were stationed in the science room, and I got to see a lot of awesome stuff.
When I looked at the map for the table layout, I got pretty excited to see there was an L5 table next to us. L5 http://www.l5-series.com/ is a brand new, kickstarter funded independent sci fi series. I watched the premiere episode when it was released a couple years ago, after waiting a year and a half from when they were successfully funded on kickstarter.
I was really excited, I thought it was wicked cool that there was already a fan group, and that I was going to be able to share my enthusiasm for the show.
When I walked in to the science room to do setup, the first thing I saw was an EVA suit that looked just like the one from the show. It struck me that it was an absolutely brilliant reproduction. Then I looked at the guy next to the suit, and recognized him as one of the actors from the show.
I got to spend a lot of time chatting with this guy, Chad Burns. Here's a pic of him in the suit at the masquerade: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jerryk4501 ... otostream/
Studio Hemogoblin (I keep wanting to type hemoglobin) http://www.studiohemogoblin.com/page.html , the folks behind L5, are doing some amazing stuff.
This is Making at its finest, and it was really cool to connect with these folks.
After the fun and success we had at Marscon 2012, I'm putting together a plan to man a table at both Minicon and convergence ( http://www.mnstf.org/minicon47/ ) & ( http://www.convergence-con.org/ )
