There's a very good chance I'd be able to "make" it to the 5 PM meetup at Common Roots today.

Shoot.

Rubin's post said meeting was "tomorrow" at 5 PM, and I saw his posting was from Saturday. So I went to the cafe today and didn't see anyone. I hadn't realized his post was at one something AM on Saturday, so he was meaning "later on Saturday" rather than "tomorrow."

Oh well. I had a nice iced coffee.

Did anybody get together with him? I was thinking very hard about heading over there on Sat., but decided that it would be a BAD IDEA™.

I made it, but barely. I felt like a complete idiot, since I proposed the place and time, but I got sucked into a project (making a grow lamp for my sprouting boxes)(yes, for actual tomatoes, not for "tomatoes") and forgot about it until about 10 after 5.

Rubin's a stand-up guy, and I really enjoyed meeting with him. I walked away with a fair amount of notes that I'll share in some way soon- I haven't decided whether I want to post on it or share it in person at the next meeting.

The biggest thing he impressed on me was this: get a space as soon as possible.

Thanks for making an appearance Mike, I would have felt bad if nobody showed.

I'd have felt doubly bad. But, we sat and chatted for nearly three hours, so it's all good.
