I started to clean out the supply line today, but I wasn't able to get the faucet off. But when I unhooked the keg coupler, there were some very nasty smells, along with a few floating fuzzy bits... It needs a good flushing with beer line cleaner before we try to run good beer through it.
I managed to scrape up the coupling nut pretty badly too, so I'll pick up a new one, along with a proper wrench.

Thank for taking the time to clean it out, and for taking care of the small bit of replacement hardware. I had some Honey Weiss out of it on Saturday, and it tasted okay, but your efforts are appreciated, and will no doubt improve the taste, and remove the obvious ick factor. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=44.906286,-93.294333- Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk

Thanks for doing that, Scot.
I can say, whatever was still in the line has so far not caused food poisoning. (fingers crossed)

Luckily, bad things don't survive in beer. The only bacteria and mold that can thrive in there can make the beer taste and smell nasty, and maybe give you a bit of stomach upset. I'm more worried about the stuff getting into the keg itself and spoiling the whole batch. (Which I'm not sure can happen, but the thought of drinking even a little mold kinda squicks me out...)

I can bring BLC down on Wed. Did someone bring a fresh keg in for the kegerator or are you drinking the stuff that was already in there? That's super old and probably the source of the smell.
