Anyone play with doing 360 type photos. Thinking of something like this:

Kicking myself for not dropping the $50, but then, I don't have an iPhone 4 and would have had to hack it anyway.

Also, re the kickstarter, that's always what you want to see, they ask for $20k and get $169k. Yowsers.

Ive seen a cool post processing effect of doing a 360 degree panorama from a single picture of a reflective bulb. Basically, the picture is taken perpindicular to the floor with a mirror like ball. The post processing takes the pic and does some kinda polar to Cartesian mapping that results in a "wrap around". I've been interested in using something like this but for security cameras, using a "weird" lens.

There are already several security cams out there that use that technique to provide a 'soft pan' and let you 'move' the image around without the need to have any servos or even control to the camera... you of course lose some picture quality.

Several vendors have had traditional 'lenses' out for a while, but it was always a wad for the lens (which was basically just a inversed sphere mirror) and then more for the photoshop plug in to decode the result. This is the first I've seen something reasonably priced. Its 'for an iPhone' but I'm sure a bit of image hacking code and you could slap it on any web cam or phone.
