well, we decided the bowyery is going in the small closet in the back room off the lower room off the cage.
long story short, everyone is pretty much on board with:
wood in the eyewash corner of the cage
-wood assembly in the classroom wall side of the wood area of the cage
-cnc land for mostly wood/foam cnc in the cage bathroom corner
-member storage in the cage/plaster wall side of the cage
-clean/vent/paint room as always
-audio in the classroom, but getting a lot of other stuff out of there
-lounge in the non toilet side of the front
-co-working/conference/small clean classroom in the non-toilet office
-staff office in the toilet office
-membership management desk at the front door
-up for grabs/parts storage in the current tool nook
-tool storage where the wood pile is for multidisciplinary tools
-welding +/- where it is now, expanded around into metal and w/ storage for projects along door and mural wall? with 1 screen across the shop door, and 1 across the shop office way to keep bright things in, allowing for a walkway from door to rest of shop and dock to rest of shop
-metal working (non sparky/flamey) +/- where wood is now
-shop office in the shop office (tool repair, tool inventory computer, etc)
-group/big project space in between metal and classroom, and between wood and cnc
-front basement art/craft project curing/drying
-middle basement messy art/craft classroom/workspace
-back basement clean art/craft/fabric and probably lazzor chomppy so it can vent to outdoors and not have dust on it
things to ponder-
-bookshelves- lounge area or classroom, both. nice to have books in lounge, loss of sq ftage in lounge area, and loss of gallery walls, books less easy to browse from lounge in classroom, higher shelves eat less space could be used in classroom.
-vault- locksport or secure storage? is it too much of a temptation to use as storage, is it unsafe to chock it open and be used as a space, do we need that much storage, do we need that much locksport space?
-other use for toilet half of front lobby area?
i'll be getting a drawing stripped of our neighbors spaces tomorrow (i hope) and plotted big for folks to annotate, and get some templates to shuffle around tool clearances and the like. if someone else can get the plotter in the classroom hooked back up and plotting it'd be appreciated.
