I have a useful donation if somebody can get it working
Before I bring this beast to the recycle center, I thought I would check with our members to see if anybody would take a look at it and find out what the cause of the pop that broke the picture. If we can get it working it would be great for a lounge as it has the modern inputs, is HD, and large enough to have a group of folks watch.
But because it is broke, my wife wants it gone, soonish, so I was not going to just drop some ewaste on the group unless we have somebody who knows their way around a TV and is willing to spend the time to look at it.
I will dispose of it by Friday unless I hear from somebody who would like to give it a try, it is 6 years old, and other than the occasional lockup has worked fine. But recently we started to use it more, and last Thursday it went Pop, and the picture went out. If you need more details, PM me.

I think that would be an awesome addition to the lounge.
Maybe jakrabbit could take a look at it?

If nothing else can be done with it, don't some rear projection TVs have big-ass fresnel lenses in them? Personally I'd love to get my hands on a big-ass fresnel lens. I think the shop needs a solar death-ray.

While looking at Craigslist today I saw a business that was looking for Part Time help, and once I followed the link, I found these videos of a Death Ray being used to make Jewelry... http://www.sundropjewelry.com/movies.phpKinda cool.

JRSPhoto is looking at the unit and found some info on the net that may allow this to be a working asset in the lounge.
Otherwise I had put a note on it to let it become a death ray or whatever if it is not working by the fourth of July.
So I think he has the edge, but still a chance we can make the death ray from the corpse.. Or as JRSPhoto mentioned, a touch screen table, but one of each would be good for me... (so guess we watch craigslist for another)
