Proxima 3D Printer - Custom Ultimaker Build

Postby leeanderson » Thu Sep 12, 2013 4:24 pm

Hey guys! Name is Lee and I just became a member. Hoping to finish many projects.

Thought I start by posting the project I'm currently working on and why I came to find TC Maker.

I'm in the process of making a replica of the open source hardware 3d printer Ultimaker

I'm currently waiting to laser cut parts for the printer from wood, hence the reason I found The Hack Factory since they just purchased a large format laser cutter that is perfect for doing the job.

Here's an example of some of the designs provided by Ultimaker.

I've gathered most of the parts, still figuring out the bed, and some bushings:

Some of this stuff I have bought from Ultimaker directly, saving time and hassle, but definitely more money

I'm waiting on the laser cut parts to put the frame to gather so I can measure for the rods. I'll then be able to cut these.

That's it for now, still plenty of work left. Will post another update once I get my laser parts finished.

Awesome! Looks like you're all ready 'cept the laser cutter! I was at the shop the other day and it looks like the laser cutter room is still under construction. Probably a week or more until its ready for use!? I really don't have any idea.
