any Devo fans out there?
saw them last night at the apple valley zoo. crazy place for a concert. only complaint was it was so damn hot and humid. my biggest regret was not bringing in a camera. last time i saw them was back around '84 at the northrup.
show was good. heard two new songs, then they played the classics; whip it, uncontrollable urge, girl u want, etc. the front man, mark mothersbaugh, is still as frenetic as ever. surprised he could still nail it. he did however stumble on gates of steel. they played some videos in the background. some were from the 80's. the videos are timeless... these guys were ahead of their time.
weird mix of people in attendance. saw people of all age ranges wearing the energy domes. one conservative looking guy looked to be in his 60's and he was jumping up and down and fist pumping. his wife was non-pleased and was shaking her head. some parents brought their kids. not sure if that was a smart move... some of the videos are sorta raunchy.
great to see Devo.
