Re: TC Maker speedo edition

... . . . Oh crap where do I start. OK. Can't decide whether this idea is perfectly terrible or terribly perfect. And I'm pretty sure it would be a really, really bad idea for me to participate. Heck, I haven't exactly been building much lately; not a lot of opportunity, unless you count Ikea furnit...

Re: Hack Factory Sign

...and run some rope lights behind it for backlighting, maybe? Also, I was looking at it Wednesday night, and I think the top part of the sign where the skinny bit sticks up, the acetylene torch part? ...that should probably be braced against (or, better yet, anchored to) the wall with a dowel or so...

Re: Swiss-Cheese Strat-Style Guitar, Still For Sale

UPDATE: I currently have some actual interest happening, so for the moment, I still haven't officially donated the guitar. To repeat: I have NOT donated it yet. We'll see how it shakes out; if it hasn't sold by about 10:00 PM on Monday, April 26th , it will belong to Twin Cities Maker for good &...

Swiss-Cheese Strat-Style Guitar, Still For Sale

Hey folks -- tonight will be the last chance anybody will have to make me an offer on that electric guitar I built! This is the Stratocaster-style maple-and-rosewood axe with the 5-way pickup at the bridge position, which I built in the early '90s in a very limited wood shop at summer camp. All the ...

Re: March Finacial

Did the "March Makerbot" situation finally get all squared away? I forgot to ask, Wednesday night.

OK, that makes me laugh, and also makes it look at least a little more intentional (and therefore more of a conversational icebreaker).

Re: Hack Factory Facility Updates and Questions

It might be more poignant if we had a bust statue or something and put a saw blade in that, with a cautionary plaque. Why don't you start a committee to work on that. Members are allowed to add character to the space, do we need to correct everything? I think a saw blade sticking in the wall is pre...

Re: Hack Factory Facility Updates and Questions

wearing out a carbide tooth blade is rarely something to be proud of. outside of a professional daily use tool it tends to mean it's been abused, which this particular blade probably was. it was abused (or the saw failed) in such a manner to seriously damage the safety mechanisms of the saw such th...

Re: Hack Factory Facility Updates and Questions

* There is a circular saw blade imbedded in the divider wall. Not sure, but this might have been a "souvenir" of sorts? It's kind of amusing, but then again not so much. safety lesson on why safegaurds shouldn't be disabled. it came from the damaged compound miter saw on the operation boa...
