Re: Branding issues again.

The result of the member motion was overwhelmingly in favor of keeping both names. This is the official position, adopted by the board on July 9, 2013: The name of the organization is Twin Cities Maker. Members join Twin Cities maker, events and projects are sponsored by Twin Cities Maker. The name ...

Re: LED sign board update

I took back my string of 50 a couple weeks back -- I've possibly got a project coming up where a string of addressable LEDs will come in very handy. If that project doesn't come to pass I'll bring them back in again. And I keep my eyes open for good deals on the lights, if I find some more I'll try ...

Re: DC-KIII CO2 Laser Cutter

Looks like the end time is off -- it's set for 7/25 @ 8pm. Also, I'm assuming you've been given access to a calendar. Unfortunately the "laser" calendar doesn't show up on the feed on the TCMaker web page. I'm going to move the 7/11 class into the "events@tcmaker.org" calendar so...

Re: What do we call ourselves?

OK, that's the (semi-)official part done. Now here's my opinion on the matter: Keep the status quo. Twin Cities Maker is the group, the Hack Factory is the place. Here's my reasoning... "Hack" is a dirty word Not among our crowd, to be sure, but our crowd is exceedingly small. There are a ...

What do we call ourselves?

There has been an ongoing discussion amongst the Board members (and other members as well) on the matter of the name of our group. There hasn't been a consistent, standard naming scheme set forth, so we thought the members should have a say before we make any decisions on it. Right now, we have two ...

Re: Equipment help - Drill Press - Compressor - Kiln - Bende

As far as the big vacuformer goes, and I bring this up as an example, Bryan and I started on it after it had sat, untouched, for some number of months. I didn't care about certain other members' comments as we worked on it -- after all we were the ones who were actually trying to get something done....

Re: DC-KIII CO2 Laser Cutter

I can bring it in tonight. We have a few flat-panel monitors in the server room -- no stands for them, but they are touchscreens... I also got a largish package of disks, a couple of which are the WinXP restores.

I'm shooting for between 6 and 6.30, board meeting at 7.00.

Re: DC-KIII CO2 Laser Cutter

I can supply a PC, we have 3 at work on the donate shelf with my name on them. I think we also have the OEM WinXP disks.

Re: Rain chances for Saturday -- are we ready?

Looks like we might be okay being outdoors for the afternoon. The evening might be a little more exciting, with severe weather possible. From the NWS forecast discussion: ...WEAK RIDGING WILL MOVE IN OVERNIGHT AND FOR PART OF SATURDAY. DRY WEATHER IS FORECAST ALONG WITH A DECREASE IN CLOUDS. THIS WI...

Re: Arduino Board for the class

Hi Andrew! I'm Scott, one of the teachers for the class. I use the Arduino Uno in class. You can get one at most Radio Shack stores in town, or from Micro Center, or from any number of web sources. The current version is the Uno R3, but it doesn't matter if you happen to get an R1 -- the differences...
