Re: Curtis Air Compressor (AKA The Big Pickle)

I was at HD getting parts for a sillcock replacement, and scoped out the PEX stuff. A 100' roll of 1/2" was like $25, so I went for it. I've got a handful of tees, some caps, a bag of copper crimp rings. No thread adapters yet; HD only had ones with disproportionately large threading; I'm going...

Re: Finding Free Pallets

You can frequently score BIG pallets (sometimes made with 12' long hardwood beams) at the washer/punch press shop on Snelling Ave half a block south of Lake St. (that's the Snelling in Mpls, not St. Paul!) The stuff piled obviously right on the driveway is fair game per the management. The #1 rule i...

Re: Curtis Air Compressor (AKA The Big Pickle)

Victory! The big nasty constant leak is fixed. It took an o-ring inside one of the unloader actuators and some creativity with bike inner tubes. More permanent diaphragms will be made Wednesday night since the current setup is a band-aid fix over the old crappy ones. I also made a wiki page with inf...

can anyone lend me a 12v to 5v DC-DC converter ASAP?

Short version: I'm would love to borrow a 12v to 5v DC to DC power supply/converter this weekend to run a single string of GE Color Effects lights from a 12v SLA battery without needing a wasteful inverter to power the 12vac to 5vdc wall wart. I don't know the exact 5vdc current draw, but it should...

lost: red oiler gun for lathe/b-port

A red lever-pump oiler gun usually lives at the lathe bench, and it is filled with a specific type of oil intended for the lathe's spindle bearings and other moving parts (not motor oil, not cutting oil, not mystery oil, etc.) This has disappeared sometime relatively recently. I'm not super worried ...

I want your unwanted garden hose

Hello fellow makers, I'm in need of a variety of pieces of garden hose to plumb together rain barrel projects. I'd love to provide a new home for any garden hose you may have taking up space. I don't care if it's damaged or missing ends or in pieces; I'll be cutting most of it up anyways. Things I'm...

Re: Ryobi charger

Thanks for scaring up a drill! That's something I've really missed when piecing things together from wood. I presume these are NiCad battery packs? If so, then the official charger is probably not very "smart", and simply charges at a controlled current. This is the kind where you are supp...
