Re: Burst Bubble = Bargain Basement?

Wouldn't utilities be our problem in a rented space as well? But yeah, there are costs to ownership.

Re: Burst Bubble = Bargain Basement?

Yeah, I get that. On the other hand, $300K is _so_ cheap. That's $6K each for 50 members. That investment with a really minimal "condo" fee each year is much more appealing to me than $100 a month. And y'know...14000 sqft. I just doubt that renting will compare to buying in the cost:benefi...

Oh sure! I suspect we're meeting on Wednesday at 7 because it works best for the greatest number. I just thought I should weigh in.

Re: First "Official Meeting", when do you want to have it?

I might twist my weekly schedule all out of kilter to make a 7PM Wednesday meeting once for our official grand inauguration or whatever. But in general that time is terrible for me. A weekend is much better. 5PM would be much better.

Re: Space available at Northrup King

It sounds to me like a lot of money for too little. If we're seriously looking at 70 members, what if they all show up on Saturday afternoon? 2000 sqft is tiny. (But I've been to some art studios in the NKB and it is a really classy building.)

Re: Kits

It's a great idea. I think that kits that include a lot of discussion that guides the buyer in hacking/bending tend to get more attention on the net than do simple "solder this here" kits. Even little stuff like what tweaking capacitor sizes will do or better, how to string two or three of...

Re: General Outreach

Deburred sheet metal with stencil-painted TCMakers on one side and the URL on the other would be hot. But also time-consuming. I've been having this vision of a bunch of hand-built-from-refuse boats/rafts out somewhere central like Lake Calhoun as an outreach/publicity event. It could be showcasing ...

Thing-a-day

So, does anyone here do Thing-a-day ? The idea is to make something every day in February and for it to take less than an hour start to finish. Some people can't deal with such small projects but I just kind of redefine what making a thing is so that sub-things count. In case you're interested, the ...
