Metal shop Closed 6-9pm Monday November 20

November 15th, 2017 by schillerc

Greetings Members,

Metal shop will be hosting a local WTF (women/trans/femme) night this Monday November 20, 2017 from 6pm to 9pm. This is an extension of Wench Welding in the Powderhorn neighborhood. The event is open to members and non-members alike who are looking for friendly faces of fabrication. This event is beginner friendly and will focus on the cutting torch and MIG welding. Metal shop will re-open for regular use after the event.

Attendees: please bring wear natural fiber clothing and non-flammable closed-toed shoes if possible. Safety glasses and gloves are a plus, but we have extra on hand if you need them.  We will be getting dirty, so you may not want to bring your favorite hoodie…

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Please contact Clara Schiller with any questions at 612-703-9211

New Saws

May 12th, 2015 by schillerc

We have two new cutting devices that require clearance before you can use them:

Carbide Chop Saw

Abrasive Chop Saw

These are both fine pieces of equipment and are happy to help you with your projects.  Because of the inherent danger in using them, we will be requiring all members to be cleared by the Metal Shop Management before proceeding with the cutting.

Stay tuned for Metal Shop Orientation dates where you will be shown the wonders of the Metal Shop.

The horizontal band saw is still available for those who have knowledge of its workings.

Thanks,

MGMT

Thank you to everyone who has helped transform the space in recent days.

The Quarterly Clean-Up today rocked.

The Metal Shop is still looking spacious and fabulous after Metal Shop Love Day on 3/14.

and

The TIG welder is out of commission until the power cable is replaced. ETA early this week.

Sincerely,

Metal Shop Mgmt

EDIT:

TIG is back in working order.  PLEASE be gentle with the TIG hoses and alert MGMT whenever the machine is not 100% happy.
